Highly durable setup for heavy use | MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR "Boundary Ridge"

MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR, a mountain sports brand from California, USA, has released high-performance snowwear for skiers and snowboarders. The newly announced "Boundary Ridge GORE-TEX Jacket / Bib" is an environmentally friendly 3-layer GORE-TEX model with a slightly brushed lining, making it extremely durable. To meet the demands of hardcore skiers who tackle snowy mountains more than 100 days a year, the jacket is packed with features designed for ease of use in the backcountry.

Check out the promotional video below to see how the Boundary Ridge Gore-Tex Jacket/Bib performs on the snowy mountains, along with its performance and details.

We also bring you a review by Mountain Hardwear athlete Yosuke Fujii, who actually used this tough clothing on the snow. Please pay attention to his words: "I felt that it was overwhelmingly durable compared to the clothing I have worn so far."

Polar protective jacket

Boundary Ridge
TM GORE-TEX Jacket

Sizes: S, M, L
Color: 339 (Wet Stone Black) (2 colors available)
¥80,300

This snow jacket is made with ultra-durable 3-layer GORE-TEX (with a lightly brushed lining and an eco-friendly ePE membrane). It features adjustable hood and hem, which are easy to operate even while wearing gloves, and a powder skirt with hooks for connecting to bib pants, ensuring optimal performance even on the harshest snowy mountains. Made from 100% recycled polyester, it's environmentally friendly and packed with features like underarm ventilation, a passport pocket, and large drop pockets.

Two large interior drop pockets
Mesh-lined underarm ventilation keeps out snow and lets heat escape
Detachable powder skirt that attaches to pants
Drawcord at the hem to prevent snow and cold air from getting in
3-way adjustable helmet compatible hood
Double front zipper that can be freely adjusted up and down

The fabric is thicker than other Gore-Tex shells. But it's not too thick, so it's not bulky or uncomfortable to wear. I used it hard every day in situations where the clothing would get worn out, like tree runs and bushwhacking at the beginning of the season, but it didn't tear, and only got a few scratches. Even at the end of the season, there was almost no sign of the typical "sagging" of shells.

One small thing is that the rubber band that holds the phone in place in the chest pocket is an excellent addition. When I was slipping, my phone would easily turn sideways in my pocket, which used to be a bit stressful, but now that's gone.

Snow bib pants that combine ease of movement with high packability

Boundary Ridge
TM GORE-TEX Bib

Sizes: S, M, L
Color: 204 (Ridgeline) (2 colors available)
¥75,900

These durable snow pants feature a lightly brushed 3-layer GORE-TEX lining (with an environmentally friendly ePE membrane). The bib area from the waist up has excellent stretch, allowing for unrestricted movement while riding. The integrated belt allows for a fine-tuned fit, and the articulated knees and gusset construction enhance mobility. They offer ample storage space, with a front zipper pocket, drop pocket, thigh pocket, and a large cargo pocket with Velcro closure.

Integrated ladder lock belt for precise fit and fine adjustment
Dual side zippers for breathability
Internal snow gaiter with boot hooks for extra snow protection

The pants have four pockets, one with a Velcro closure and one with a zipper, on each side, which was very convenient. When I temporarily took off my gloves, I put them in the Velcro pocket, and things I don't often take out while skiing, like keys, in the zipper pocket.

I also liked that the bottom of the pants could be tightened with elastic. It prevented the bottom from getting caught in the binding brake on the other foot, which was very comfortable.

The waist belt was extremely useful when hiking or after skiing. As someone who gets hot easily, there were times when the bib would make my upper body very hot (such as when hiking), but the waist belt allowed me to remove the band from my shoulders.
