Amid the ongoing season, exhibitions are already being held in various locations where manufacturers are unveiling new models for the upcoming 2023-24 season
This time, we spoke to him about ID ONE, which is sweeping the global mogul competition scene, at the SNOW SPORTS Joint Exhibition (held February 14th-15th at Pacifico Yokohama)
The origins of ID one are freeriding
ID one skis dominated the podium at the Beijing Olympics. Made in Japan, they're a top brand in the mogul world, favored not only by Japanese athletes but also by the world's top freestylers. While mogul competitions have a particularly strong impact, freeriding is actually where ID one originated

Did you know that they even have a big fat model (FR-JPOW125) with a waist exceeding 120mm? Let's take a look at the notable new models for the 2023-2024 season from ID one, which has the concept of satisfying users on any slope
The all-mountain model "FR-CC" is now available, perfect for Japanese powder!

Among ID one's Freeride category lineup is a model called the "FR-PC Light." This is an all-mountain ski developed after careful consideration of the quality of snow and powder in Japan, and its versatility, which allows it to be used comfortably on slopes as well as in serious backcountry skiing, seems to be the reason for its popularity. With a center width deliberately kept to 89mm, this model emphasizes that it is not exclusively for powder or backcountry skiing, and for fans of the ID one brand, this may be just the right balance for enjoying freeriding
Following this trend, a new model called "FR-CC" will be introduced in the freeride category for the 2023-2024 season. "CC" stands for "comfortable connection," and was named to symbolize the comfortable connection between you and your skis, and the connection between the slopes and the mountains. This model was developed with the image concept of a board that can be used to go from the slopes into the backcountry to enjoy powder, and then return to the slopes to enjoy on-piste skiing
The use of light wood for the core makes it lightweight and reduces the burden on the hike. The 85mm center width combines stability and maneuverability, making it particularly reliable for footing on crust and ice in the backcountry.
In its debut year, it will be available in one size (177cm), but it seems that shorter sizes for women will also be available in the future.

ID one's best-selling model "FR-XP" has been upgraded to "FR-XXP"

Another highlight of ID one next season is the birth of the "FR-XXP." According to Hirofumi Mochizuki, ID one's technical director and former demonstrator..
"The FR-XXP is based on ID one's best-selling FR-XP. The XP is a ski that school teachers can use to go out and ski powder first thing in the morning and then give lessons on. This means it's easy to make both big and small turns. With just the right amount of stiffness and softness, it's a ski that's extremely easy to handle in any situation
The FR-XXP was created with the image of a faster, sharper, and stronger ski, with a stronger flex balance than the XP. It doesn't sink too much on uneven ground or in powder, allowing for reliable control. On groomed runs, it allows for sharp carving turns and aggressive skiing. It also has excellent stability at high speeds, but at high speeds, skis tend to flap. This model provides stability to reduce flapping, while still allowing for tight maneuverability. It actually took two years to develop such a versatile model. We confidently recommend the FR-XXP, so be sure to give it a try!
