Here are the features of Epic Japan
Epic Japan is run by Akiko Nakae, a former alpine racer turned businessman who discovered the backcountry and became fascinated by its rich world, becoming a professional guide. Here are some of the features of the company
1. We prioritize the satisfaction of each guest, offering small group
tours with a responsible guide-to-guest ratio (1:4) appropriate for the size of the slope. We also offer instruction styles that cater to those who lack confidence in their physical strength or skills. "We guide with the hope that one day you will be able to climb on your own," they say.
2. Offering the best conditions from a wide range of options across regions: Based
on our experience exploring Hokkaido, Tohoku, Shin'etsu, and even Hida, as well as our experience guiding inbound foreign guests in those areas, we will guide you to the optimal destination for that time of year. Our specialties are the foothills during powder season and the remote areas in spring. We also offer guiding in English.
3. Female guides ensure women can participate with peace of mind, even alone. They
offer meticulous attention to detail and reliable guiding skills unique to female guides. Akiko Nakae is one of only three female guides in Japan currently holding a Stage 2 ski guide certification. She also serves as a director of the Japan Backcountry Ski Guide Association.
