Hoshino Resorts Tomamu | Ride the gondola to the top and access the finest powder snow | Hokkaido

Hoshino Resort Tomamu is located almost in the center of Hokkaido. There are two peaks on the slopes: Tomamu Mountain on the left and Tower Mountain on the right. With a total site area equivalent to 213 Tokyo Domes, and the longest run of 4,200 meters, this ski resort is popular with all types of skiers

At the base there is Hotalu Street, where you can ski in and ski out, and you can also enjoy shopping and dining on the slopes

Both slopes have ungroomed runs scattered throughout, but this time we'll be introducing Tomamu Mountain

Recommended Powder Course

A. "Glory" is a popular course with a high chance of encountering powder.

Glory is accessible via the Unkai Gondola. This is where you'll find the highest chance of encountering powder snow throughout the season. With an average gradient of 20 degrees, it's perfect for warming up your legs in the morning

B. "No Gravity" is the most difficult course at the ski resort and a must-visit when it snows.

This super-hard course has a maximum gradient of 35 degrees for most of the course. On days when powder has fallen, you can feel like you are floating, losing all sense of gravity

C. Recommended for powder beginners! Wide and refreshing run "Silky Way"

"Silky Way" is for intermediate skiers. It has a wide slope and beautiful scenery. It is a course where you can enjoy a variety of terrain, including powder, packed snow, and moguls, while looking down at the foot of the mountain

If you want to easily experience untracked powder, we recommend the CAT tour!

If you come to Tomamu, the CAT tour is a must-try. The tour takes place at Mt. Karifuri, about a 20-minute drive from the hotel. The course is mainly on the northeast slope, and the course changes depending on the conditions. The elevation difference per run is about 200m. Around six runs are done per day

As you can see in the video, after the morning session, we took a CAT to a yurt a little ways away in the forest, where we enjoyed a special lunch of the same high quality as at the hotel

Enjoy the backcountry feel in the "Advanced Ski Area"

This season, an "Advanced Ski Area" has been set up where you can ski on tree runs and powder snow outside the course (in the managed area). You must complete the necessary procedures at the "Winter Mountain Opening Desk" before you can enter the mountain. After signing a philosophy agreement, you will need to wear a helmet and armband.
