Tohoku Road Trip | KinTouN

This is our annual Tohoku road trip. Starting from Mt. Iwaki, we travel from north to south, exploring the remaining snow in the north and enjoying the best backcountry conditions that day with our KinTouN guides. Located deep in Tohoku, Hachimantai is known for being the driest powder snow on Honshu. Mt. Norikura (Nagano Prefecture/Gifu Prefecture)

Mount Norikura, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, is located at the southern end of the Northern Alps (Hida Mountains). It is a mountain range consisting of 23 peaks, 7 lakes, and 8 plains, with Kengamine (3,026m) as its highest peak. The 3,000m-class snowfields are a vast and dynamic mecca for spring and summer skiing. In the spring, the points you can reach vary depending on the operation of Mount Norikura's spring mountain bus . In 2025, the spring mountain bus is scheduled to begin operation on April 27th. In line with snow removal from Mount Norikura's Echo Line, the bus will run to Igahara Sanso until the end of May. From June 1st, the bus will run to the hut entrance at the shoulder of the Oyukikei kei.

Tateyama in the Northern Alps is a heavy snow region with a series of 3,000-meter-high mountains. 7th K2/BCA Tateyama Tengu Classic 2025 | K2 JAPAN

This three-day, two-night spring backcountry tour is sponsored by K2 Skis/BCA. Join four K2/BCA-contracted guides (Horie Jun, Saeki Iwao, Igarashi Kazuya, and Handa Yuzuru) who are experts on Mt. Tateyama and aim to summit Mt. Tengu, which can only be reached during the snowy season.

Starting Saturday, May 10th, the three-day itinerary offers a variety of programs, including ski tours, workshops, and a participatory event where all participants create short turns on a single, gigantic run.
