Shirakaba is located on the Hikage slope, which is directly connected to the hot spring town via the Yu Road and is extremely convenient. The shop is run by freeskier Naoto Kono, who has also shown off his photogenic riding skills at STEEP. He is also a skilled snowboarder, and with his discerning eye, he values providing high-quality gear that is suited to the conditions of the mountains and snow quality in Nozawa Onsen, from fat skis to snowboards
Additionally, the rental fee for skis and snowboards is the same, and you can switch between them as many times as you like. This makes it a great opportunity for skiers to try snowboarding and snowboarders to try fat skis
Rentals on the first floor, store and cafe on the second floor
The two-story shop has a spacious first floor for rentals and tuning. In the mornings and evenings, it's bustling with skiers and snowboarders renting equipment. There are also many foreign customers. FISCHER skis are the main choice, but FUNCTION is also available. For boards, they stock trusted domestic brands such as PURANA PUNKS
The second floor is a shop mainly selling soft goods. The interior has a calm atmosphere with wooden showcases, and is filled with accessories and cold weather gear that you might suddenly need on the mountain
At the back of the second floor is the Cafe & Bar. In addition to hot drinks and beer, you can also enjoy light meals such as hot sandwiches. There is also a lounge space where you can sit comfortably, as shown in the picture, so you can enjoy a truly relaxing time

A delightful wax service
If you arrive in the afternoon or after a day of skiing, you can leave your skis or snowboard at the resort and they will apply hot wax to them overnight. This is great because it means you can enjoy riding to your heart's content the next day on skis that you've always loved
They've also introduced Wax Future, a cutting-edge machine that irradiates the base with infrared light, heating the board from the inside and allowing the wax to penetrate deeper into the board. It doesn't damage the base, so it's safe and the process is quick, taking just 30 minutes to complete. Ordering Future Wax on the morning you head out to ski and enjoying a morning coffee at the cafe on the second floor is a unique experience only found at Shirakaba

Manager Naoto Kono
He is from Nozawa Onsen. He was a former member of the Japanese ski cross team and is also a skilled snowboarder, leaving behind a legacy of photogenic synchronized skiing and snowboarding in his photographs. He is the third son of the Kono brothers (Katsuyuki, Kenji, and Naoto), professional skiers whose family home is the Nozawa Onsen "Yasuragi no Yado Shirakaba."
