Introducing Akakura Tourist Resort's recommended courses, weather forecasts, live cameras, and course maps
What is Akakura Kanko Ski Resort (Niigata Prefecture) like?
"Akakan" is popular among advanced skiers and has attractive powder and long courses
Akakura Kanko Hotel, with its red roof, stands halfway up the slope and has a history of 80 years since its founding, making it a pioneer among highland resorts in Japan. Nicknamed Akakan, it is popular among advanced skiers. It is only 8 minutes from Myoko Kogen IC, so it is convenient as you can enter the slopes directly from the parking lot without having to walk
The ski resort has a vertical layout with the Maeyama mountain range of the Myoko mountain range in the background. The high altitude and the terrain that is prone to snow accumulation create a stable powder environment. You can take long runs using the gondola or lift, so the satisfaction of skiing is high. The end of the upper lift is connected to the neighboring Akakura Onsen Ski Resort, making it easy to access the backcountry area

a "natural ride zoneinto!
The Freeride Park, previously known as the "Main Park" and "Second Park," is undergoing a major overhaul this winter! It will no longer feature the traditional kickers and jibs, but will instead be reborn as a natural ride zone (Main and Second) that makes use of the natural terrain. It will be located between the Hotel B Course and the Women's National Athletic Meet Course. The new design makes use of the terrain itself, including waves and banks, offering a unique and different experience from traditional slopestyle skiing.

・Hotel A Course

Maximum gradient: 23 degrees, average gradient: 18 degrees / Distance: 900m / Slope orientation: North
An ungroomed slope that runs alongside Hotel Quad No. 5 at the top of the slope. Many skiers head here after snowfall. With a maximum gradient of 23 degrees and a course length of 900m, it is relatively wide and easy to tackle even in powder. At the top of the course there is a gate to the backcountry area (with an avalanche transceiver checker)
・Champion A Course

Maximum gradient: 32 degrees, average gradient: 20 degrees / Distance: 1200m / Slope orientation: Northeast
This ungroomed course has Akakan's steepest slope (32 degrees). At 1,200 meters long, it's a long and challenging run. After snowfall, it's powder, but normally it's a challenging mogul slope. It's not uncommon for snowfall here to completely bury the moguls overnight, so if you get the chance, you can expect an exceptional run
・Women's National Athletic Meet Course

Maximum gradient: 22 degrees, average gradient: 12 degrees / Distance: 1700m / Slope orientation: East
The upper part is steep, but the overall slope is easy to tackle, making this a long course that stretches for 1,700m. It's great to fly at high speeds down the packed snow runs that curve sharply from straight lines. It's also great on powder snow
