Katashina Oguna Hotaka Ski Resort (Gunma Prefecture)

Fill your stomach with fluffy natural powder from an altitude of 1,828m!
Oguna Hotaka Ski Resort, located in Katashina Village, Gunma Prefecture, is only two hours from Tokyo and is in the suburbs of the Tokyo metropolitan area, but the top of the slopes is actually 1,828m above sea level. In addition to convenient access, the quality of the snow is perfect. It is popular among powder enthusiasts as a little-known spot where you can fully enjoy the fluffy natural powder without fighting over the powder.
In addition, to mark the 50th anniversary of the resort's opening in the 2025-2026 season, the resort has redeveloped the area that was previously used as a course, reviving it as a completely ungroomed area. The courses, which make use of the natural terrain such as walls, never tire of visitors, and many fans describe it as "a very comfortable ski resort that feels like home."
Topics from the '25-26 season

This year marks the 50th anniversary of our opening!
To commemorate this milestone season, raffles will be held approximately two to three times a month with the chance to win luxury prizes such as commemorative goods and lift tickets.
Furthermore, the resort has been ranked number one for three consecutive years as the Kanto region's "ski resort with the best powder snow," and is gaining recognition as a ski resort with easy access from the Tokyo metropolitan area where you can enjoy the finest powder. The resort is also expanding its ungroomed snow area.

Every weekday is Ladies' Day!
Until last season, Ladies' Day was only held on specific days, but this season it will be held every weekday (from January 13th onwards). One-day lift tickets, normally 5,600 yen, can be purchased for 3,900 yen, and rental sets are also available for 2,500 yen.

Katashina Oguna Hotaka Ski Resort Recommended Course
・Slalom course

Maximum slope: 30 degrees Average: 22 degrees / Distance: 400m / Slope orientation: Southwest
When it snows, this is the first place to go! The overall width of the course is wide, making it perfect for drawing nice, large spurts. There are steep sections with a maximum slope of 30 degrees, allowing you to enjoy overhead powder. It's sure to be a hot course that attracts many powder freaks.
・Slope 6

Maximum slope: 25 degrees Average: 18 degrees / Distance: 750m / Slope direction: East
It's not an uncompacted snow course, but the snow is so smooth that only this No. 6 slope is often covered with powder. The quality and depth of the snow is perfect on days when it has fallen. Located at the top of the slope, the view is outstanding.
・Wedern course

Maximum slope: 30 degrees Average: 22 degrees / Distance: 300m / Slope direction: Northeast
The size of the course is small, but the bowl shape makes it easy for powder to accumulate. Therefore, in terms of depth, it is No. 1 in the hall. Over time, the slopes may turn into bumpy slopes, but it's also fun to attack them wildly.
