Haus St. Anton | A gourmet inn with a homey feel nestled in the foothills of Austria | Nozawa Onsen

Shinshu Nozawa Onsen, but with a European feel

House St. Anton resembles a mountain hut nestled in the foothills of the European Alps. It's a special space that makes you feel as if you're in Austria, and you might even forget you're in Nozawa Onsen, Shinshu.

However, once you step outside, you'll find yourself in the heart of Nozawa Onsen's hot spring town, a luxurious location where you can fully immerse yourself in the culture of Nozawa Onsen, where history and tradition still thrive. (And, of course, the ski resort is within walking distance!)

The owner is Mikio Katagiri, a famous downhill skier who has competed in two Olympics. The chef and young owner, Kensaku Katagiri, is a former All-Japan Alpine Ski Champion. Run by Nozawa Onsen's leading ski family, House St. Anton not only attracts numerous skiers and athletes from Japan and abroad who stay overnight, but also attracts many repeat customers, including foodies and VIP guests from Japan and abroad, who come for the food.

Handmade, additive-free, delicious ingredients served with love

House St. Anton places the utmost importance on food, and it goes without saying that what they serve is handmade and additive-free. By adding "love" to this, something that is often forgotten in modern society, they aim to be a place where people can remember the true meaning of food, such as bonding and communication through food, and staying healthy by eating.

"In Nozawa Onsen, surrounded by the mountains, please come and experience the deliciousness of ingredients that are a gift from nature, and the wonder of the world as it is. We have created a space where our guests can truly feel like they've 'come home,' and we look forward to welcoming you," is the message from Chef Katagiri.

All guest rooms are carefully designed with original designs

The guest rooms, which are made with an abundance of now-precious antique wood and are filled with the owner's particular attention to detail, all have a different design with a European feel. Each room has its own unique style. The

classic modern space, filled with the warmth of wood, is incredibly calming, allowing you to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax.

Uniquely creative cuisine

Chef Kensaku Katagiri, who trained at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Osaka, creates dishes that fuse French cuisine with the essence of Japan and Asia, with a unique sense of balance and style. Each dish is imaginative and surprising, and is brimming with respect for the culture of Shinshu, where he was born and raised in Nozawa Onsen, and the food culture rooted in the climate and natural features.

Breakfast is a luxurious time to savor House St. Anton's homemade jam. Start your day elegantly with the recommended jam of the day and a delicious egg dish.

Even if you are not staying at Haus St. Anton, you can still enjoy a meal here
(reservations must be made at least the day before).

"Exquisite" or "Recommended!"

The food is the highlight! Enjoy the chef's unique combination of ingredients, blending the cooking techniques he has cultivated over his many years of overseas experience with the food culture of Shinshu. We recommend finishing off your meal with the specialty Parmigiano-Reggiano risotto (winter only). There is also a shop and cafe selling homemade jams and juices
