Professional shops are a great source of help when choosing new skis. They allow you to test ride numerous brands and models on the snow, and by combining their extensive knowledge and user feedback, they can compare and evaluate products from multiple angles, making their advice persuasive. Skis, in particular, are a great reflection of the discerning eye and attention to detail that only a professional shop can offer. Let's ask a discerning professional shop to tell us about the most noteworthy skis for the 2023-2024 season
Models with a waist width of around 100mm are said to be the most all-around skis. Models with a waist width of around 105mm are especially popular globally. They offer ample buoyancy and playful performance in powder, and excellent maneuverability on rough, uneven runs. They also offer excellent grip and control on firm, groomed runs. This range is considered the ideal all-mountain, all-around ski

ARMADA|STRANGER
This is the only way to enjoy cruising on the slopes with relaxed turns, leaving it up to the R

The turns are incredibly fun and easy. Despite its unusual shape—a semi-fat 100mm center, supple flex, and short radius (R=15m)—the relaxed turns you can make on the slopes, relying on the radius, are an experience you can only get with these skis. The relatively
soft flex allows the ski to bend easily and turn nimbly. The tip is the same width as the JJ, and the center is set back, so it handles powder reasonably well too.

VÖLKL|REVOLT 104
When you arrive at the slopes in the morning and can't decide which ski to bring out, try this!

◆Official Website:http://www.mdvsports.co.jp/
Many brands release skis with similar volume and outlines in the camber and twin rocker category, but I think this is the most well-balanced and ideal freestyle ski in this highly competitive category. It's great for
cruising down the slopes, powder, passing kickers, waves, and 3D terrain. It's nimble yet stable, offers a satisfying ride, and is easy to slide. If you're unsure which skis to take out when you arrive at the slopes in the morning, choose this one. As it's a twin-tip, it's also convenient when skiing with children. It's also great for expanding your skiing repertoire and passing on the joy of skiing to the next generation of skiers.

ELAN|RIPSTICK 106 & RIPSTICK 106 BLACK EDITION
A masterpiece with a wide range of applications for users and ski scenes

◆Official Website:https://www.elanjapan.co.jp/
Personally, I think this is a hidden gem. While the stiffness might feel a little lacking for users with an alpine or recreational skiing background, it's a very versatile ski for the average user, and one that's unlikely to cause any problems.
The ski achieves its rigidity by using a wood core as a base, with carbon fiber on the inside of the ski and carbon tubes inside the ski. The ride is characterized by a smooth, supple feel, making it incredibly fun to ride. The ski itself is by no means weak, and it grips the snow surface from the initiation of a turn to the end of the turn. It's very maneuverable in powder conditions, and surprisingly, the acceleration in the vertical direction is incredibly satisfying!
This is a rather abstract description, but in short, it's a ski with an extremely wide range of uses for different users and skiing situations. As for the BLACK EDITION, it's a more aggressive remake of the standard RIPSTICK, and the feeling when riding it is like "a carbon ski with the feel of a metal ski." In addition to edge grip on par with metal skis, it's a very impressive ski with the responsiveness characteristic of carbon skis.
It's also nice that it's not too heavy! It's an incredibly fun ski to ride! Regarding bindings, the standard RIPSTICK is fine with any setup that suits your style. Since the tail slide control is easy to manage, you can still get the most out of the skis even with a setup suited for mountainous terrain.
The BLACK EDITION, on the other hand, maintains grip well into the latter half of turns, so bindings that grip the boot welt will provide the best turn grip and response. As for boots, the skis themselves are very lightweight and easy to handle, so I feel that even relatively lightweight touring boots can easily bring out the skis' performance!

VECTOR GLIDE|POLARVE STANDARD
This season it has been completely renewed and is now more versatile than ever!

◆Official Website:https://www.vectorglide-japan.com/
The "POLARVE STANDARD" has been significantly revamped this season.
By eliminating the carbon fiber that was incorporated in last year's model and using only metal, it now has a more supple, grippy feel on the snow surface, making it easier to ski with greater stability.
Yet, it still handles surprisingly well in powder conditions, and the exquisite 107mm center width provides excellent grip on groomed slopes, allowing for satisfyingly sharp carving turns. I think it's truly an all-around ski.

The soft flex allows for a wide variety of movements!

◆Official Website:https://lineskis.com/ja-jp
This is a freestyle powder model. The 108's softer flex at the center enhances the variety of movements. The thinner nose and tail reduce swing weight, making it easier to move in the air and in powder. This board is perfect for gliding, tricks, and powder

NORDICA|UNLEASHED 108
Recommended for those who want to enjoy one vehicle all season long

The UNLEASHED series, released in the 2022-23 season, is recommended for ambitious skiers who want to do everything: powder riding, carving on groomed slopes, and playing in the park. From the 2023-24 season, a 114mm center width has been added, giving you three types to choose from: 114mm, 108mm, and 98mm. If you want to use one pair of skis throughout the season, you can choose the center width that suits your preferences.
This is a ski that will perform well in a variety of situations, from freestyle to freeride, from on-piste to powder riding. It's also recommended for those who want to enjoy one pair of skis throughout the season.
